Individual Clients

I provide notarial services for individuals who need documents to be recognised abroad. Below is an overview of the types of work I commonly undertake for individual clients.

Certified copies of personal documents

I can notarise certified copies of, for example:

  • passports, driving licences and other photo ID

  • educational certificates and transcripts

  • immigration and residency documents

Please note that UK birth, marriage and death certificates are usually presented as official General Register Office copies and should not be notarised. In these cases, I will explain the correct route.

Powers of attorney for use abroad

I notarise Powers of Attorney for use overseas, including:

  • personal and family matters

  • property and financial matters

  • situations where you are authorising someone else to act on your behalf

 Affidavits, statutory declarations and oaths

At the appointment, I will take you through the wording, administer the oath or affirmation where required, and complete the notarial certificate.

Witnessing of signatures

Where a document must be signed in front of a notary, I will:

  • verify your identity

  • confirm that you understand the document and are signing of your own free will

  • witness your signature

  • add the appropriate notarial wording, signature and seal

This is often required for property documents, financial forms, consents and other private documents to be used abroad.

Attestation of contracts and personal documents for overseas use

I can notarise a range of personal documents and contracts, for example:

  • private agreements relating to property, inheritance or family matters

  • personal declarations or letters requested by foreign authorities

  • other documents where a notary’s confirmation is required

Before the appointment, I will review the documents and any instructions you have received, and advise on the correct notarial steps.

Electronic notarisation and e-apostilles

Where the receiving authority accepts digital documents, it may be possible to:

  • issue a notarial certificate electronically under my Qualified Electronic Signature; and

  • arrange for an electronic apostille on that digital document.

In such cases, the electronically notarised file itself is the original. Printed copies of a digitally notarised document will not be valid.
