Making an Appointment
In order to notarise a document, you need to make an appointment to see me, as personal attendance is essential.

Please do not sign any documents before your appointment — they must be signed in my presence.
I ask that you send me scanned copies of the document(s) in advance of our appointment.
I generally see clients during normal office hours but can offer appointments outside these times by arrangement.
Identity Checks
I will need to confirm your identity before I can notarise any documents for you or your organisation. Please therefore provide the following:
For all clients:
The documents that are to be notarised
Official translations i(f document is in foreign language)
Any covering letter or e mail from the foreign lawyer explaining what needs to be done
Proof of identity
Proof of identity – individual clients
Photographic ID: your current passport and/or national identity card
Proof of your current address:
Valid driving licence
Utility bill (gas, electricity, water etc.) dated within the last 3 months (mobile phone bills are not accepted)
Bank statement dated within the last 3 months
3. Name changes or spelling variations: provide supporting evidence such as:
Birth certificate
Marriage certificate or divorce decree
Deed poll or change of name deed
Proof of identity – corporate clients
If you represent a company, partnership, charity or club, additional documents are required.
For all organisations, I will require:
Evidence of identity (as above)
A copy of your current letterhead (showing registered office if a company)
A letter of authority, minute, resolution, or Power of Attorney authorising you to sign the document
Additionally, for companies:
Certificate of Incorporation and any Change of Name
Memorandum and Articles of Association
Details of directors and secretaries
I will carry out a Companies House search just before our meeting to obtain an up-to-date company record
If the company was incorporated outside the UK, evidence that it is properly constituted under the laws of that country must also be provided. This can be obtained from the company’s accountant or legal representative.
Additionally, for partnerships, clubs, etc:
A copy of the Partnership Agreement, Trust Deed, Charter, or Constitution/Rules
